Residential Treatment

Our residential level of care provides 24/7 onsite care. Client care begins with a comprehensive evaluation by our Board Certified medical doctor and Licensed Therapists, who specialize in the field of addiction. Each client is provided with an individual treatment plan designed to meet their specific needs. Our approach seamlessly integrates clinical therapy, psycho-education, 12-step programming, fitness, and nutrition with progressive levels of care that range from 30 to 60 days.

Clinical Programming

La Fuente’s clinical program has been carefully crafted over time and is informed by evidence-based treatment modules that include motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems, mindfulness, therapeutic yoga, and relapse prevention therapy.

Process Groups

The natural propensity of human beings to congregate makes group therapy a powerful therapeutic tool for treating substance use disorder, one that is as helpful as individual therapy and sometimes more successful. One reason for this effectiveness is that groups intrinsically have many rewarding benefits—such as reducing isolation and enabling members to witness the recovery of others—and these qualities draw clients into a culture of recovery. Another reason groups work so well is that they are suitable especially for treating problems that commonly accompany substance abuse, such as depression, isolation, and shame.

Each morning begins with a mindfulness meditation and a process group at La Fuente facilitated by one of our clinical professionals. Process groups provide rich opportunities for clients to connect with and heal from the many underlying issues that have fueled and continue to perpetuate their addictions.

Addiction and The Brain-How We Educate

As a result of scientific research, we know that addiction is a disease that affects both the brain and behavior. We have identified many biological and environmental factors and are beginning to search for the genetic variations that contribute to the development and progression of the disease. Scientists use this knowledge to develop effective prevention and treatment approaches that reduce the toll drug abuse takes on individuals, families, and communities.

La Fuente works with its clients and their families with the understanding that addiction is a medical condition and not a moral issue.

LGBTQ History and Relation to Addiction

La Fuente explores the history of the LBGTQ community to help understand the complex roles of guilt and shame that can play a big part in addiction. The Stages of Change model, post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS), and relevant education on the disease of addiction and related disorders are provided.

Support and Scheduling

Counseling, therapy, and peer support help clients develop and practice skills to participate in their healing process. Our rigorous schedule incorporates a range of activities structured to enhance and promote your emotional, spiritual, and physical health, in addition to providing daily immersion into 12-step recovery activities.

Fitness and Exercise

It may not be a cure, but aerobic activity could help strengthen the effects of treatment for addiction. During exercise, endorphins and other naturally released substances can create a safe and natural high. Regular exercise can, in some cases, reduce stress along with stress-induced cravings.

La Fuente provides a gym membership to each client during residential treatment and group hikes to assist with improving their well-being and overall health.

Nutrition

Drug and alcohol abuse can cause nutritional deficiencies and issues with digestion. Users often have depleted levels of vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids, and fats, which can lead to a number of mental and physical problems. A healthy diet is a key component in the battle against addiction and can help lay the groundwork for attaining and maintaining sobriety.

La Fuente provides all meals at the residential level. The menu has been designed to provide a great balance of nutrition that can strengthen the bodies and minds of those in early recovery.

Community

At La Fuente, we take client immersion to a whole new level. In fact, community plays such a prominent role in La Fuente’s residential addiction treatment center that locations have been thoughtfully chosen and purposefully integrated into the La Fuente experience. This takes the form of local service work, philanthropic work (fundraising/solution-driven work), and just as importantly, civic service. We believe integrating social issues through community engagement plays an integral part in our client’s success as we work to improve the communities in which we live and work.
